| Date From | | Feeding chickens at the Scottish Agricultural College, Auchincruive. The first mention of Auchincruive was in 1208 - then called Hackencrow the estate was owned by Sir Richard Wallace of the illustrous Wallace family. A few spelling changes, a number of centuries and several owners later, it passed into the hands of Mr John M. Hannah of Girvan Mains who gifted it to the West of Scotland Agricultural College in 1927 for the purposes of agricultural education and research. In 1990 the college and all its assets transferred to the new pan-Scotland institution, the Scottish Agricultural College [SAC.] |
