| Date From | 1914 | Staff outside the Carrick Cinema House in Maybole. The cinema opened in 1914 under the ownership of Robert Allison. This photograph may have been taken shortly after the cinema opened and was produced as a postcard. A copy of this postcard in the possession of a member of the public has the following message on the back. "Left to right Wm.Broom, Ronald Kidd, Maudie Woods, Roderick Broom, John Hempkin, Robert Allison (the proprietor, sitting). I don't know the rest. This is the Bob Allison whom Nell McAllister was very friendly with."
One of the two films advertised, The Road to Ruin, was produced in 1913 by Bert Haldane. |
