| Date From | | Dignitaries assembled for launch of Ville De Papeete in November 1928 at Ayr Harbour Shipyard. For a report of the event see the 'Ayrshire Post' 16/11/1928. The Ville De Papeete was built for the Compaigne Francais des Phosphates de l'Oceanie, Paris. It was a 500 ton, single screw vessel for service between Papeete (Tahiti) and Makatia (Society Islands). The launch was performed by Mademoiselle Suzanne Touze, daughter of the company president, M. Etienne Touze. |
