Littlemill smithy

| Date From | 1890 | A general view of Littlemill, showing the thatched single-storey smithy. On the night of 4th April 1881 the family living at Littlemill Smithy consisted of Andrew Reid (c.1816 - 1891) and his wife Sarah McSkimming (c1817-1892) and their children Andrew (1846-1929) widower, who was an engine fitter, Susan (1850-1929), Christina (1852-1881), Hugh (1854-1923) who was a blacksmith; and grandchildren William and Mary Reid. By 5th April 1891 (after the death of Andrew Reid, senior) the family was Sarah McSkimming Reid with sons Andrew and Hugh (both blacksmiths), daughter Susan and grandson Andrew, a steam boiler foreman. |
